Dr. Julia Abend is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with almost 20 years of private practice experience. She graduated summa cum laude from Hunter College (CUNY) in 1997 with a B.A. in Biology, and went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2002, also summa cum laude. While at NYU, she was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society.
To further specialize, Dr. Abend completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Since 2006, she has been in private practice while maintaining hospital and academic appointments. She currently serves as Clinical Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College and is on staff at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she is actively involved in trauma care and resident education.
Her clinical interests include the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with particular expertise in maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, oral pathology, facial reconstruction, and osseointegration (dental implants).
Dr. Abend lives in Larchmont with her husband, Gianluca, their three children — Audrey, Lorenzo, and James — and their beloved Bracco Italiano, Dante. She enjoys traveling, tennis, yoga, and opera. Fluent in English, Ukrainian, and Russian, Dr. Abend brings a rare skill set and an ebullient personality to the Westchester oral surgery community.
