Children undergoing orthodontic treatment may require oral surgery to assist in creating a proper smile, facial form and bite. Dr. Kur performs these procedures to alleviate stress and deliver exceptional results in a safe and compassionate setting in order to help ease the process along.
When You Need It
An X-ray at your orthodontist will tell you when teeth are impacted and need the attention of an oral surgeon in Westchester County, NY.
The Procedure
Expose and Bond is a minimally invasive procedure performed by Dr. Kur in the office, either under local anesthesia or IV sedation/general anesthesia. Dr. Kur isolates the tooth and attaches a gold bracket and chain to it. About a week later the orthodontist will attach a wire to the tooth that will gently pull it into position, which can take about six to nine months.
More Orthodontic Procedures
Dr. Kur also places TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices) to push or pull the teeth where conventional braces cannot. When necessary, this technique can help speed orthodontic treatment time. Placing the TADs typically takes 30 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia or IV sedation/general anesthesia.
